How do I make an appointment?

Please call the office number 9983 0193 and either myself or the receptionist will be able to book in an appointment for you. If the phone is unattended leave us a message, we will get back to you as soon as we can.

How long are consultations?

Most consultations are an hour long, although people travelling from far sometimes request a 90 minute session. For couples counselling a longer session works better as well although it is not a necessity.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

You do not need a referral to make an appointment unless you wish to access funding by Medicare in which case you would need to visit your G.P., psychiatrist or paediatrician who could complete and lodge a mental health care plan on your behalf. This will enable you to access a rebate of $87 for each session. Medicare allows you a limit of 10 sessions per calendar year.

How and when do I pay?

Payment is on the day by credit card, cheque or cash.

Are consultations covered by Medicare?

Consultations are partially subsidised by Medicare only if your G.P. as compiled a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP). This allows you to have six sessions with a psychologist after which we could request four more sessions should we think it necessary. Clients are responsible for full payment and can then claim back a portion of the fee from Medicare. Please remember to bring your referral to the first session.

Will my private health fund cover me?

Most private health funds do cover psychology fees but please check with your fund as this may differ depending on the fund and your level of health care.

Can I cancel an appointment?

Please cancel appointments 24 hours in advance to avoid payment, and to enable us to accommodate clients on the urgent waiting list.
